VIIRS Today: Credits


S-NPP and NOAA-20 VIIRS data for the VIIRS Today website are acquired and processed at the Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Additional VIIRS data are acquired courtesy of the Hampton University Center for Atmospheric Research and Education (HU-CARE) and the NOAA US National Weather Service at Monterey. S-NPP and NOAA-20 VIIRS data are obtained in real time via free and unrestricted direct broadcast courtesy of NOAA and NASA.

Software for converting VIIRS data from raw telemetry to calibrated radiances provided courtesy of the SSEC Community Satellite Processing Package (CSPP) .

The S-NPP and NOAA-20 direct broadcast processing system at SSEC was designed and implemented by Liam Gumley, Kathy Strabala, Jessica Braun, Nick Bearson, Bruce Flynn and Jenny Witt. The direct broadcast ground station at SSEC is a Orbital Systems 2.6 meter X/L-band system.

VIIRS True Color, False Color and Day/Night Band Images created by Polar2Grid software, which is distributed as part of the SSEC Community Satellite Processing Package (CSPP) software suite.
